Movement Can Open Doors
Every girl deserves the opportunity to discover what sport can make possible for her. But talent, ambition and enthusiasm can only go so far when the essentials for participation are out of reach.
The Hijab Strides Fund exists to help close that gap. Through community initiatives, access to PE kits and sporting equipment, and opportunities to participate in organised sport, we aim to make it easier for more girls to take part, build confidence and discover their potential.
Because the opportunity to participate should not depend on what a girl can afford to bring to the field.
P.E. Kits & Equipment:
For many girls, the first barrier to sport is simply not having the right kit. Modest, comfortable sportswear, balls, cones, proper footwear, and basic training equipment can decide whether a girl joins or watches from the sidelines.
The Fund helps put these essentials within reach. That way schools, coaches and community groups can welcome every girl, hijab or not, onto the field with confidence.
Sports & Participation: Talent grows when it is given room to play. We support opportunities for girls to train, compete and experience sport beyond the classroom, from inter-school competitions and community tournaments to running events like Hijab Strides. These moments build teamwork, discipline and self-belief. They also show girls, and the people around them, that faith and sport can move together.
Community Initiatives: Lasting change starts close to home. We support local programmes that bring movement and opportunity into girls’ own communities, working with schools, mosques, women’s groups and youth leaders. This includes safe, culturally respectful spaces to exercise, mentorship from female coaches and role models, and outreach to parents and guardians. Together, these help make sport a normal and welcome part of every girl’s life.
